It is a great devotional to wet the appetite for more of God. Many times I am pondering certain point and thoughts and talking with God about them. I like that it is short and to the point. I also like that I can click on a link to see the fuller message or which book it is coming from. I love that I can click on the share button and open it in Safari and Pastor John has a recording where he is reading it himself with emphasis and inflection! What I don't like is for iPhone XR I have a hard time hitting the share and favorite button because it is in that area with the speaker or front camera. I have to hit it like 20 times before it will do anything. All my other apps that I use that space for works fine so I'm thinking it is the app.

Easily a five star app. Stellar content and extraordinarily encouraging. Considerable depth and wisdom makes this a must have.

Is there a way to get the version of solid joys on this app where Pastor John reads them? I could not find that option. Thankful to God for the work done in and through this app.

Noticed that there are recordings on the website. Is it possible to get them on the app too?

I’ve been so blessed by this ministry and am glad they have made their resources so accessible online and via apps.

These have been so great to wake up and get myself orientated towards God and the Truth. What I’m wishing for though is a HIGHLIGHTER in the app! Can you make it happen?

While I like the content and layout of the app, receiving the devotions when I want them is important to me. Too bad they don’t work!

The fix works. No more crashes

The app is a bit buggy but worth every minute spent in it digesting the quick daily scriptures + thoughts. I’d suggest this to anyone & everyone. It’s easy and profound - a great way to get some incredible spiritual insight in an extremely simple package. They could do just a couple of quick tweaks to make this a really great app, but until then I’m totally content using a decent app because the valuable content trumps the usability.

Fantastic devotional with annoying music. Recommend highly if you don’t find the music distracting. Wish there were a way to turn music down or off.

Please fix the app crashing! I see others have the same issue as I do. It opens back up and is fine the second time around!

This is a great app but please fix the crashing issue. Every time I open it, it crashes after a few seconds, then I have to restart it, then it’s fine. Been like this for a long time.

It’s true, the app closing after I open it is a minor inconvenience, but why not fix it and make this app a five star? Time and time again, the devotional reading from John Piper has met me where I am that day. Good words from God’s Word.

Was hopeful the update would fix the crashing but it did not. Sad

I’m a huge fan of John Piper and love this app. It provides fantastic nuggets of devotion. I would give it 5 stars, but the app always crashes.

This is one of my favorite apps. I use it for learning and edifying my thoughts in the morning while I’m getting ready or when I have a question about. Particular subject. John Piper approaches each topic concisely and backs up his answer with Biblical truth. Excellent in user ability and applicable necessity.

I️ enjoy this devotional very much. But have vision problems that are worsening. Have searched their website for a way to contact them, but find no way of doing so. I️ am using the largest font the app provides and can no longer read it. Unlike many apps, you cannot stretch it out to enlarge. Can you please correct this. Thank you.

This app is the technological equivalent of serving caviar on a ritz cracker. The concise snippets are well thought and poignant, often sequestered from pre-existing books, but the app crashes each time I open it anew. This is truly a minor inconvenience in the grand tapestry of life, but I'm pretty sure a 17-year-old intern could remedy the issue. Five stars because you should use the app, regardless the seconds it costs. Flowery language so someone important will read this and fix it and give me back the annual hour-and-a-half I spend waiting for the crash/reload cycle.

I guess I had to buy a newer iPhone for the app to work. It works great now, and the devotionals are the best of all the other devotional apps.

Like others have said, app crashes on each opening but not again. Setting glitches aside, I don't agree with the reviewer who stated this is only an attempt to sell books. It often links to the website where the complete article is. Sometimes you just want to read a quick message that is encouraging. If you're a Bible scholar doing a thesis look elsewhere.

These aren't devotions, they're blurbs from other books. Feels more like an attempt to sell the books the material is taken from... No forums or anything interactive, just a basic daily blurb with the book as a hyperlink at the bottom of it. Very minimal app.

I love the content but the app crashes right after opening it. I am able to open it again & after that it's fine.

The app crashes the first time I open it each day, but if I open it again immediately it does not crash again. The content is so good, it is worth the hassle. I do hope it gets fixed soon!

I really, really enjoy the content of these devotions, but know that EVERY day it is going to C-R-A-S-H while I am reading. Should be a simple fix for someone who knows coding. Mixed feelings, love the words, frustrating app function.

Love this content every time I read it. I'd appreciate a new app icon that looks less out of place in iOS 10. Significantly takes away from an otherwise phenomenal devotional app. Wish there were more like it!

I really like that app I mean the menu could slide out from the side instead of going up. But I think the logo is random and not consistent with the rest of your apps. I would consider using the same style of art as your other logos and just taking the arrows from the desiring God logo and putting them in a Bible. Then bam! You have your solid joys app logo. Think about it and if you need it designed let me know ;)

I LOVE reading Solid Joy every morning. It is a wonderful App and is true is the sharing of the word of God..BUT it crashes EVERY morning while I am reading. PLEASE fix this issue. Thank you!! 7-9-17. I did the recent update and it STILL crashes after opening within 30 sec. please continue to work on fixing this. I love Solid Joy!

July, 2017 Update - Frustrated as the app has started shutting down ever day I open it. When I reopen it works but flashes the screen several times and then stabilizes. 2016 review - I am daily invited to know God better through this collection of devotionals. In a lost world that is spiraling downward, this is an invitation to know the "outcome" and journey with our Lord more fully and with a clear view of the unerring Scripture. Thank you!

I enjoy using this as part of my morning devotional, it is just a pain that it crashes after 15 seconds every time you open it.

I absolutely love this app. It's an incredible resource that gives great words to chew on throughout the day and provokes further study. Although, it has started crashing every time I open it and it makes me so sad! Please fix this! ❤

That's what usually pops into my head when I open this app every day. Love the messages, but wish this was more of a solid app that didn't crash so much.

App works well and runs smoothly. Content is great, as expected from Desiring God and John Piper.

This is a helpful app to get in the Word on a daily basis. It' doesn't go through long passages, but takes one or a few verses and breaks it down. As a mom of two, this has been so helpful. The only con is that it crashes every single time I open it. When i reopen it, it stays open. But the initial opening of the app without fail crashes every time. It's why I deducted a star.

I have a suggestions for the Solid Joys App. Could you please request to the development department to add a feature to save the Favorites in the iCloud? The problem is that the favorites are not in sync, and when we format the phone, the favorites doest came back. Thank you !!!! Have a blessed week.

Recently the app has begun to malfunction. It quits unexpectedly, and I have to restart it, and then it works ok. Was not a problem until about early May, 2017.

The devotional content is great. But this app crashes every day, a few seconds after I open it. And it seems others have the same complaint. Restart it and it seems to stay up. An annoyance mostly, but it's so consistent I don't see how it doesn't get fixed.

Unlike previous reviews, I haven't experienced anything frustrating with the app itself. I've been using the app since Dec 2016. Each daily devotional provides unique perspective into the Bible that makes you think and want to dig further. It's refreshing to listen to the exegesis and application of a verse or passage of God's Words. I personally appreciate a study without someone else's thoughts interrupting.

I love John Piper & I've been a long time supporter of Desiring God. I've had this app on my iPhone for several years & have never had any problems with it until the app was updated. I updated app that automatically downloaded on my iPhone in the fall 2016 has been a disaster. It crashes every single time I open it & I read the daily devotionals, listen to messages, etc. I've experienced the same issues with the app on my iPad Air. I've missed having access to the app but I finally had no choice but to delete in January 2017. Please make the appropriate changes, fix the bugs & provide a clean, restored updated app. I miss the app before it was updated. I'll read the daily devotional & access previously recorded sermons via the ministry website until further notice. Thank you!
